Nicholas Sutton, our youngest trainer at Off Leash K9, brings an unrivaled passion for dog training to the table. Spending several years growing up in Germany as a young boy, watching all of the protection and sport K9’s being trained had imprinted him at a young age. After graduating High School at the age of 15, and going to college for a year in Kansas City, Nicholas joined the Army as an Infantryman at 17 years old. He completed one tour in Kosovo and was Honorably Discharged after 3 years of active duty service. Nicholas first spoke with Ciara Stevens (Off-Leash K9, Huntsville’s Owner) in November of 2017, looking for training help with his first German Shepherd, Adonis. After many countless hours of training invested into Adonis, Ciara realized Nicholas’s true potential as a trainer and K9 behavioralist, and highered him aboard. Nicholas furthered his education at Off Leash K9, Knoxville’s location officially completing his Trainer Certification in May of 2018. Since then, Nicholas has worked with over 100 dogs of all different sorts of breeds, temperaments, issues, and ages.
My dog Trooper is a 4 year old golden doodle with basic obedience but I felt was short of living up to his potential and therefore not as integrated into our activities as he could have been. A friend recommended Off Leash K9 and I am so glad they did. It is absolutely an investment into your family. After the two week board and train (highly recommend!!) Trooper is still himself personality wise but has more impulse control, advanced manners, and can now be loose without us worrying about him darting off! I was concerned that this level of obedience would take away some of his Trooper-ness but if anything it has made him happier with these new “jobs” to do and the mental stimulation is what he needed!
I also can’t say enough good things about our trainer, Nick! From the first day, you get a warm fuzzy that your dog is in good hands of people who truly like and are knowledgeable about your dog. Nick kept me up to date on Trooper’s progress and made sure that my goals for Trooper were being met and that I was comfortable with the process. In every status picture or video Trooper’s head and tail were up and his body language proved he was happy. The skills he learned are a credit to Nick’s excellence as a trainer. Also, Nick has stayed in touch with us since transition to answer any question we have to make sure it sticks and we can execute like he did. We are so grateful!
When I dropped Trooper off I told them that Trooper was special and a part of my family. I can now tell you that Off Leash K9 is special too and there is no one but them that I would trust with my pup.
My family and I are proud to give Off Leash K9 a 5-star rating. We have a 9 month German Shepherd by the name of Klaus (like house) and wanted to give him the training that he deserved, and with 3 little boys and a new girl on the way, we absolutely needed the best there is.
After exhaustive research, we decided on Off Leash K9 because of the great reputation and amazing reviews. We met Ciara who is the utmost professional, not only does she handle herself and her business with top notch class and attention to the customer, but you can tell she has a love of dogs like none other you will ever meet.
Through Ciara we met Nick Sutton, Klaus' trainer during the 2 week board and train. I could not believe the dedication Nick gave to Klaus. Nick is kind and professional which absolutely defines Off-Leash K9 in Huntsville. His love of dogs and attention to detail truly sold us on the program.
Klaus is a 9 month old puppy GSD, and like most shepherds, he is proud and strong as well as mischievous . He had all of the typical bad dog behaviors, jumping and barking at company, pulling us all over the neighborhood on walks, not following any commands, you name it, Klaus did it.
After the 2 week board and train with Nick was finished, he personally brought our Klaus home to us. Did I mention that Nick came to our house on a Saturday night at 7pm as that was my only available time and spent well over 1 1/2 hours with us for the transition? Name another company that will do that??????!!!!!!. Our Klaus is calm and confident and every command off leash was followed to a T. So much so that I had to show Klaus off to my neighbors who were equally impressed. He is like a police dog with his commands and ALL OFF LEASH.
If you are in the market for K9 training, please look no further than Off-Leash K9 for your training needs. They will treat you and your dog like family. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you again Nick and Ciara, we are a better family because of you guys!!!!
Nick took my butthead Jasper and whipped him right into shape in 2 weeks!! I am so pleased with his results!! Prior to finding OLK9, Jasper pulled me all over the place if he wasn’t wearing a prong collar, and he jumped all over other people if they got too close during our walks. Overall, Jasper was still a happy dog, but he had awful manners. Now I can take Jasper practically anywhere AND I can run with him. Its been a great end result for everyone! Jasper is happy, and more active.
The board & train program is well worth the money and hopefully soon we’ll be sending his brother Koda!
Thank you guys again(:
OLK9 NAILED it! They took my boy coop, which is the world record holder in leash pulling, and made him very controllable and obedient in just 2 weeks. Coop was stubborn and just wanted to do his own thing, and now thanks to his Trainer Nick from OLK9 he listens, does what I tell him to do, not what he wants to do, and I don’t have to worry about him running far with out being able to call him back. I am very impressed with the quality of work that they have performed, and would recommend any and everyone that has a disobedient dog to take them there first! Great job OLK9, and thanks!
